The Okanagan is home to thousands of people who count ourselves as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are your parents, siblings, grandparents, neighbours, grocery store clerks, baristas, doctors, lawyers, truck drivers, chefs, bartenders, landscapers, school teachers, politicians, clergy, and people from all walks of life.
As community members, we represent the full spectrums of sexual orientation and gender identity. We are two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, gender diverse, non-binary, and many more. We contend the narrative that these are “new” or “made-up” identities, and return to the knowledge that we have always been here and will continue to be here. We will not be erased, this is who we are; And WE belong here, EVERYONE belongs here. YOU belong here.
