Happy Holidays!

The holiday season is a time for joy, connection, and reflection. While it can be a wonderful holiday time for many, we understand that it can also be a source of stress or loneliness for others. Let’s focus on kindness, compassion, and positive change, and spending time with your chosen family during the holiday season. And if you’d like to help make a difference in the lives of members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, consider donating to Advocacy Canada or gifting a membership . Your support helps us continue our advocacy efforts.

Advocacy Work

The board approved a terms of reference for a partnership effort in 2025. Working closely with community champions and allies, we will be advocating for Inclusion in Sport. The campaign will be getting into full swing in Spring of 2025. If you’d like to get involved, or know someone who might, click here to lend your voice. This month we also advocated for change in Alberta’s anti-trans policy, universal trans healthcare and met with partners to better understand how to continue to advocate for equality for all.

Honoring Lost Lives: A Reflection on TDOR

In November, we gathered at Stuart Park to commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) with a poignant candlelight vigil. We honored the lives of those lost to transphobic violence and reflected on the ongoing struggle for trans rights. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported this important event. Your presence and solidarity made a significant difference. A special thanks to Q and Haneen for sharing their powerful spoken word performances, which added a deeply personal and emotional dimension to the evening.

Looking Ahead to 2025

For those interested in continuing this important work, we’re seeking volunteers to take the lead on planning and organizing TDOR 2025. If you’re passionate about trans rights and want to make a tangible impact, please contact us through our volunteer form and indicate your interest in TDOV/TDOR.
