This is a fundraiser event for Advocacy Canada, and your support is gratefully appreciated.

The film was created in conjunction with the 2021 history exhibition “Kootenay Pride: We Love a Parade!” and centers on the people and moments that defined the LGBTQ2S+ community in the Kootenays while paying tribute to the legacy of activism that led to a diverse and robust queer population today.

Spanning decades, Queering the Interior explores how the discrimination and demands of one generation were transformed into the rights and responsibilities of those that followed.

“Our team at Watershed Productions was thrilled to bring these missing stories into the museum and out into the community,” says Director Amy Bohigian, “as we work to represent the full spectrum of who lives in our region and create social impact through personal stories.”

The 45- minute documentary features the personal stories of Michael Wicks, Christopher Moore, Cindy Henderson, Robert Verigin, Henri Roberts, Sophia Dricos, Norma Kilpatrick, Seán Hennessey, Uli Holtkamp, Jesse Halton, Bobbi Mollenberg, Smokii Sumac, Cheryl Dowden, Jo Caple and the original music of composer Ben Euerby.

Thank you to the generous sponsors for making this event possible!
